MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Tertiary level qualification with at least 5 years experience in a management, supervisory or project leader position OR proven extensive experience in the SHEQ environment in a supervisory position

Knowledge of principles viz Quality Management Systems, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety
Knowledge and understanding of Business risk modelling, business continuity and practical application in the work environment
Knowledge and understanding of auditing practices
Knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement practices
Knowledge and understanding of Governance principles
Analytical thinking capability for data and trend analysis

SKILLS REQUIRED :

Project management

Time management and adherence to deadlines
Technical writing skills
Computer literate in MS Office packages and Internet domain
Deliver professional customer service

Job Specification

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Management of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System which must include :

development and implementation of effective eco-efficient practices
integration of the Duty of Care Environmental Management Plan into the ISO 14001 system
continuous improvement in environmental management through setting of targets
monitoring, review and reporting of environmental performance against standards and goals
training of relevant staff in their environmental responsibilities
communication with internal and external stakeholders

INTERFACES :

Conduct / facilitate public meetings
Liaise with all relevant Government departments (permit applications, follow-up, reports etc)
Liaise with and arrange all external inspection authorities
Liaise with I&AP’s
SIND group

ROLES AND OUTPUTS :

Conduct internal environmental monitoring and measurement systems verifying that the EMP is adhered to at all times and taking corrective action where non-compliance occurred
Conduct compliance audits (legal, permit conditions, systems and environmental housekeeping)
Conduct environmental training
Implement and track Environmental Improvement projects
Manage the ISO 14000 system
Manage the duty of care plan
Handle environmental complaints (log, investigate, rectification and feedback)
Submit monthly and annual reports to Group Env. manager, management and Government departments
